Ya, so I watch American Idol. It's a wholesome family show where one's hopes and dreams can be shattered for the entertainment of all the world.

All in all, I think this is the first week that everybody did relatively well. Yep, even Sanjaya. One of my favorite pieces of advice from design school critiques, "hey, can you make this suck a little less?" I thought of that when Sanjaya sang and had a fond chuckle. He may not need to depend on votefortheworst.com to stick around this week. My top 3 prediction: Melinda, Jordin, and Blake. Person I secretly root for: Chris Sligh.

Stdrovia (stroh-vee-uh)

I get a lot of junk mail. Who doesn't? I know my name is different, but some of the names I get addressed to me are hilarious.

Mrs. Stdrovia (too common)
Strod Via
Str Dova
St. Drovia (my favorite)

This time I got a title a long with my name.

Stdrovia, Oklahoma Secretary of Environment.

What database screwed that up? Somebody in the state capitol just got a subscription reminder to Game Informer.

Sickly Movie Opinions

Wednesday, February 21, 2007 3:29 pm

So I caught something that kept me in the house for a few days. It was a good time to catch up on some movies that I had planned on watching when I was completely bored and devoid of any responsibility. Here they are:

The DaVinci Code
Very interesting plot, poor execution. The characters weren't believable to me. I never felt that anybody thought that what they were doing could change the entire world. The movie also felt long, which isn't a good sign. Tom Hanks was just too big for this movie. It was still moderately entertaining to watch though. I put this up with "The Day After Tomorrow".

The Exorcist (AMC TV edited version)
I can see how this would've been really scary back in the 70s. I don't know how much was bad TV editing or just 70s style film, but the movie was very choppy. Some things went into great detail, others were just skipped along. It was a bit more disturbing than actually scary.

The Exorcism of Emily Rose
I was pleasantly surprised by this movie. I expected a rehash of "The Exorcist", but instead got a nice courtroom drama. I enjoyed the characters and how the story was told. The exorcism scene was probably the scariest thing I've seen on film in a long time. Was pretty awesome actually. It's now a few days later and I'm still thinking on it.

Proof
A stinker but a thinker. The movie felt like a life story told of any random person you'd meet in the street, which I find interesting, but at the same time, dull and ordinary. I did grab a math book after the movie.

Dark Water
The opposite of "The DaVinci Code". Great execution, lame story. The setting was fantastic. It set the scary mood over any shock scenes. I'm pretty much convinced I'm never going to live in New York City.

There's a new linerider out. It now includes an eraser tool. About time! There are plenty of other new features too.

Linerider has been one of the most fun flash games I've found out there. I've spent way too much time watching that little guy sled around my mess of lines.

Check it out at www.linerider.com.

Taking away my HD

Saturday, February 3, 2007 12:50 am

TV technology.com is reporting that CBS may pull its HD signal from cable tv providers. If you were like me, you can remember anxiously waiting to see the OU/Texas game in HD, only to find out that ABC HD was pulled from the channel lineup days before. I gave up trying to get ABC out here in Norman over an antenna. Even after all my fits and complaining, I stuck with the cable company. But I didn't get my HDTV to watch standard def.
